Gemotions

The blood drained from Emily’s face. She felt a cold, prickling sensation spread across her skin. The doctor, bless her heart, was apologizing profusely, but the words were mere noise. Emily's mind was racing. Her entire understanding of herself, her body, was now in question.

She pressed her palms into her eyes, squeezing them shut. When she opened them, the world was still there, but subtly altered, a warped reflection of reality. It felt like she was trapped in a bad dream.

She struggled to speak, managing only a broken whisper, “But… I don't understand…”
