The world tilted. Sarah felt a dizzying pressure in her head, like she was underwater, struggling to surface. The humid air of the locker room, usually comforting, felt thick and cloying, pressing down on her chest. She had envisioned the crisp, clean air of the stadium, the roar of the crowd, the feel of the championship trophy in her hands. Now, everything was a blur. She could feel her face flush with heat and humiliation. She stumbled back, needing air, needing space, needing to escape the suffocating weight of disappointment.
