My vision swam. It was like looking at a reflection in shattered glass – distorted, fragmented, and utterly wrong. The list in front of me seemed to mock me with its clean lines and confident lettering. The other girls were hugging, laughing, celebrating, but their joy felt like a foreign language I couldn’t understand. I wanted to disappear, to sink into the floor, to become invisible. My carefully constructed world, built upon years of sacrifice and relentless effort, had crumbled around me.
