Heads of departments were always announcing team meetings, but this email was different. Mark felt a prickly sensation crawl up his back as he saw the subject: “Internal Restructuring – Operations Department Placement.” He wasn’t expecting anything, but this was a surprise to see.

He scanned the words. His eyes grew wide. He felt a dizzying sensation, like the floor had tilted beneath him. He was being moved… to the sales team? His gut twisted. Sales? He was a meticulous analyst. He loved his numbers.

“Oh, *hell* no,” he breathed, his voice barely audible. He slumped back in his chair, feeling the blood drain from his face. This was a nightmare, surely. The very thought of it turned his stomach.
