Gemotions

I blinked, my hand still gripping the card. A picture of a rainbow. It was totally blank inside. I felt a flutter in my chest, a quickening of my pulse. I had to know who sent it.

My mind raced. Had I offended someone? Was this a prank? Or… something else? I glanced around, as if expecting to see a camera or a hidden presence.

I went back inside, locking the door. The card felt strangely warm in my hand. I studied it closely, searching for any clue, any hint of the sender. The silence of the apartment seemed to press in on me.
