The lawyer’s words echoed in Leo's ears. He stared at the deed, the official print blurring before his eyes. His sister, Clara, nudged him, a slight smile playing on her lips. "Well? Are you going to say something?" Her voice was airy, like she expected him to burst into song. He swallowed, a strange pressure building in his chest. Grandmother's house. *Their* grandmother's house. How had this even happened?

His gaze drifted from the document to the worn Persian rug, its colors muted by years of sunlight. He felt a tremor run through him, a physical manifestation of the mental jumble inside. He opened his mouth, but only a croak emerged. It was a lot to take in.
