“Well, this is… unexpected,” Alex muttered, staring at the house. His sister, Bethany, merely rolled her eyes. She was already fishing around in her purse for a key. Alex hadn’t been expecting this.

He had pictured his grandmother's belongings being divided and sold. He'd never considered the possibility of inheriting the entire home. He felt a slow, churning sensation in his gut, like a tidal wave brewing.
