The sleek, silver box containing his test results had seemed like a promise of connection. Now, staring at the words on the screen, that promise felt like a cruel joke. "Biological father: Javier Rodriguez." He blinked, as the information sunk in, and his carefully constructed identity felt fragile.

He slammed his laptop shut, the metallic sound echoing in the silence of his room. He felt a surge of…he didn’t know what to call it. A wave of nausea. A sense of being untethered. He needed to be alone.
