He’d always felt like an imposter. Now, the feeling was confirmed. A notice posted on the university website, highlighted in screaming red, stated he had received the wrong grant. A wrong name.

His vision tunnelled. He leaned against the cool brick wall, the rough texture a strange comfort. His breath hitched in his throat. This wasn't happening. He squeezed his eyes shut. What had he done? How could he have been so wrong?

He wanted to scream, to lash out, to make someone – anyone – understand. But he stood there, paralyzed, a prisoner in his own body, the world now a kaleidoscope of distorted realities. He felt a strange combination of fear and hollowness.
