"The company… is being sold?" Mark’s voice was a whisper. He looked at his wife, Lisa, his eyes wide. He’d just gotten home, expecting dinner, and a normal evening. The news had shattered everything. He felt a strange tingling in his fingertips.

He sank down onto the couch, the cushions suddenly feeling unfamiliar. He'd been looking forward to this job, the new challenges, the stability. All that had vanished. He closed his eyes, the weight of the news pressing down on him.

Lisa put a hand on his arm, her expression mirroring his disbelief. He took a long, shaky breath. He felt utterly at a loss. He realized he needed to take action, and fast.
