The steel doors slammed shut with a finality that made Amelia jump. Three hours? The voice on the elevator speaker was calm, almost bored, as it delivered the news. Her jaw went slack. This was… incredible. She hadn't expected this.

Her colleague, Mark, a man known for his unflappable demeanor, just sighed and leaned against the mirrored wall. He crossed his arms, staring at the floor indicator. Amelia, however, felt a strange tingling sensation creep up her spine.

"Well," Mark said, breaking the silence, his voice flat. "This is just great." Amelia could only nod, her mind racing. What about her afternoon meeting? The presentation she'd been working on all week?

She began pacing the small space, each step a tiny explosion of nervous energy. The stale air felt thick, the silence punctuated only by the hum of the stalled elevator. The idea of being trapped with Mark for the next few hours sparked a series of bizarre thoughts in her mind.
