The red emergency phone went dead. Three hours. A giggle escaped Kevin's lips, followed by a series of incredulous breaths. He stared at his reflection in the polished steel doors. He looked… pale.

Beside him, Sarah, normally the picture of cool professionalism, was now gnawing on her fingernails. Kevin watched her, his senses heightened, his usual sense of self-assuredness gone. What was happening?

He found himself wanting to laugh and cry at the same time. The thought of being trapped with Sarah, in this tiny box, for the next few hours, was a bizarre and unexpected twist of fate.

"This is… something, isn't it?" he said, his voice a little too high-pitched. He felt like he had been transported into an alternate reality.
