The air was thick with the scent of old books and dried flowers as James explored his grandmother’s house. He was tasked with packing the remaining items. He found a document hidden within a hollowed-out book. A letter, typed on an old typewriter.

He felt a pressure in his chest. His grandmother was the calmest woman he knew. He knew nothing of any other life. The resignation letter, from a job he'd always assumed she'd relished, was a shock.

James ran a hand through his hair. He stared at the date, at the signature. The person he thought he knew… a veil had been lifted, showing a hidden world he never knew existed.
