"Are you… are you serious?" Emily asked, her voice wavering. We'd just unveiled our competing sculptures at the gallery. The same theme, the same materials, even the same pose. The judges, their faces a mask of professional neutrality, had declared a tie. But I couldn't understand it.

I blinked, trying to clear the haze that had formed in my vision. Emily's face was a mirror of my own bewilderment. Her eyes, usually sparkling with creative zeal, were wide and vacant. Her hands, usually gesturing animatedly, were now clenching at her sides.

“I… I don't understand,” I stammered, feeling a strange disconnect from my own words. The gallery lights seemed to intensify, the colors blurring at the edges. The room, which moments ago had been filled with the joyous chatter of art lovers, had become eerily silent.
