The university cafeteria, once a haven of chatter and camaraderie, now felt like a sterile, echoing void. The fluorescent lights overhead seemed to intensify, casting stark shadows across the table. Her appetite had vanished. She ran a hand through her hair, finding no comfort in the familiar gesture.

A peculiar sensation prickled at the back of her neck. The bustling sounds of the student body faded away. She felt as though she was the only person present.

She closed her eyes, seeking some escape, any escape. When she opened them, nothing had changed. The feeling was still there.
