Gemotions

The invitation was handwritten, on thick cream paper, smelling faintly of lavender. Old Mr. Henderson wanted to chat about the fence he was planning. Sarah clutched the note, her fingers tracing the elegant script. She couldn't believe it. This was the man who’d won the town’s gardening competition for the last twenty years.

She found herself smoothing down her skirt as she approached his meticulously trimmed lawn. Each blade of grass seemed perfectly placed. The man himself was a vision, his silver hair impeccably combed.

He gestured towards the property line, his voice a low rumble. "I'm thinking of something… grand," he said, his eyes twinkling. She could only nod, her throat suddenly tight. This was like being invited into the Sistine Chapel.
