Gemotions

The living room was like a time capsule. The same floral couch, the same crocheted afghan draped over the armrest. He sat on the edge of the couch, carefully, as though he might break something. He could still remember the countless hours spent playing video games on this couch.

His mother, her face etched with a lifetime of kindness, offered him a cup of tea. He felt a warmth creep through him as he took the cup. He couldn't quite meet her eye. He just stared at the swirling tea. He hadn't felt this… safe… in a very long time.
