"Unbelievable," Thomas muttered, staring at the departure board. His cousin's wedding in Charleston was hours away, and his connecting flight was still grounded. He ran a hand through his hair, then slowly, deliberately, began to pace. The airport, usually a place of sterile efficiency, suddenly seemed filled with a vibrant energy. The lights gleamed off the polished floors, and the conversations of strangers blended into a hypnotic murmur. He felt a peculiar detachment, as if he were observing a beautifully chaotic play from a great distance.
