“I… I don’t understand.” Sarah’s voice cracked. Her palms were clammy, and a cold sweat trickled down her spine. The room, usually a comfortingly familiar space, felt cold and threatening now. Her usual confidence had evaporated, replaced by a hollow feeling. Professor Chen was reviewing her research paper, pointing out the supposed similarities to a published article. She wanted to scream, to run away, but she remained frozen in place, a statue caught in the glare of judgment. She felt absolutely at a loss.
