Gemotions

The phone vibrated on the bedside table. Emily watched as Ben, usually glued to his phone, leapt up. He hurried out of the bedroom, muttering something about a work call. Her vision tunneled.

She lay still, listening to the muffled conversation from the hallway. His voice, usually calm, was animated. She sat up slowly, feeling a coldness creeping into her bones. Her fingers grazed the duvet, pulling it tighter.

The very air in the room felt altered, charged with an invisible energy. The world around her seemed to warp, the familiar becoming uncertain. It was a brand new experience, and it left her speechless.
