The morning sun glinted off the perfectly manicured lawn, the dew still clinging to the blades of grass. Sarah had just stepped out, coffee in hand, ready for her commute. Then she saw it: the empty space where her vintage Mustang, a cherry-red beauty, usually resided. A prickle of unease snaked up her spine, tightening her chest.

She blinked, certain this was some kind of elaborate prank. Surely, she had parked there. She checked the time on her watch, then again. The knot in her stomach grew.

Her jaw went slack as she noticed the official-looking notice taped to the curb. Her eyes traced the bold lettering, a cold wave washing over her. She felt strangely weightless, as if the ground beneath her feet was no longer solid.
