Gemotions

The old lighthouse pulsed with its rhythmic beam, a beacon against the turbulent sea. He was looking at the structure through the binoculars, a place that held great importance to both of them.

"That whole day was a disaster," Leo said, shaking his head. "We got soaked, the batteries died, and we were so hungry." He shifted the binoculars over to the sea, then back to the lighthouse.

He remembered the fierce wind, the spray of the waves, the immense power of the ocean. He remembered the view from the top, the sense of exhilaration, the feeling of freedom. He found himself incapable of articulating his feelings, which felt somehow sacred. His chest felt tight.

"I remember the feeling," he finally said, his voice husky. "The feeling of being on top of the world."
