Gemotions

The vibrant colors of the yard sale seemed to dim. I stopped abruptly, my breath hitching in my throat. There, nestled amongst some old dolls, was my beloved Humphrey. My pulse quickened. The very same bear I had cried over when I was a child. The memories, so clear and poignant, flooded back.

I slowly approached the table, my legs feeling like lead. I stared at him, unable to speak. The seller, a young man, glanced up. "You like him? He's a dollar." I reached out and gently touched his soft fur. My fingers traced the outline of his one remaining button eye.

I paid him quickly, then tucked him safely under my arm. A huge, silly smile spread across my face. I knew I'd never let him go again.
