The email arrived with a startling ping, jolting Liam from his work. It was from a school he hadn't thought about in years: Northwood High. The subject line: "Class of '98 Reunion." He clicked, his heart beginning to thump erratically.

He sat back in his chair, a strange buzzing filling his ears. He scrolled through the invitation, the years collapsing upon him. He imagined himself, then, a gangly teenager, awkwardly navigating those same hallways. Everything felt so sharp, so clear, as if he could still feel it.

He pushed his chair back from the desk, unable to concentrate. He needed to think. He needed to... breathe. The world seemed to shrink around him, leaving him feeling so small.
