The email arrived during breakfast, a notification that completely ruined Amelia’s appetite. Dr. Bellweather, the driving force behind the department's cutting-edge research, was accepting a position elsewhere. Amelia felt a hot flush creep up her neck. Her toast sat forgotten on the plate.
