The weight of it, the sheer magnitude, was almost impossible to process. The words of the announcement still echoed in my ears, blurring in my mind. Across the room, I watched Daniel shake the hand of Mr. Harrison. His face was a mask of polite gratitude. I felt a sudden, sharp pang of something I couldn't quite name.

My own mouth moved, forming a congratulatory smile, but the words felt hollow on my tongue. The room seemed to spin. Everything was suddenly out of focus. It was the feeling of standing on the edge of a cliff, the wind whipping around, the ground falling away.
