She sat frozen in her office chair, the listing open on her monitor. A shiver ran down her spine, not from cold, but from something else entirely. She had been scrolling through real estate websites out of habit, and now, here it was. The house she grew up in. The one her parents had sold years ago.

Her hand trembled as she clicked on the virtual tour. She almost didn’t want to look. Each click, each shift of the camera, felt like a journey into a sealed-off, forgotten world. It was like she was a ghost herself, walking unseen through rooms that held a thousand memories.

The living room, the scene of so many family gatherings, seemed almost impossibly large, yet oddly familiar. The way the sunlight hit the floorboards – she remembered it like it was yesterday. A smile slowly crept across her face, followed by a sudden need to see it, to feel it, with her own eyes.
