Gemotions

"Think about it," the voice was saying. I felt the words pass through me, as if they didn't belong to me. His words were so casual. I felt like I was about to commit a sacrilege.

I kept my eyes on the towering pine, its needles a vibrant green against the blue sky. I saw the wind move through the branches, creating a symphony. This was my childhood sanctuary. It had been there longer than I had.

I found myself almost reverent, as if I were in the presence of something holy. The enormity of the potential loss hit me. I made some noncommittal response, but my mind was already racing, trying to figure out how to stop the request.
