Gemotions

The sterile white walls of the hospital room seemed to blur as Amelia stared at the file. The nurse had just left, and the silence was deafening, broken only by the rhythmic beep of the heart monitor. Suddenly, a shadow fell across the doorway. A woman stood there, her face a mask of shock and something else – a deep, almost primal recognition.

Amelia’s breath hitched. She felt a lightness spreading through her, a sensation like being lifted off the ground. She knew, somehow, before the woman even spoke.

"I... I can't believe it," the woman whispered, her voice trembling. “They told me…” Her gaze locked with Amelia's. Amelia felt herself unable to move or break eye contact.
