She had been having a bad day. Everything had gone wrong. She was on the verge of tears when the doorbell rang. She was not expecting company. Standing on her porch was a deliveryman with a large bouquet of mixed flowers – sunflowers, lilies, and more. No note was attached.

She accepted them, and for the first time that day, a genuine smile touched her lips. She closed the door, cradling the bouquet, the weight of the flowers a comforting presence.

She arranged them in a vase, filling her apartment with vibrant colors and sweet scents. Her bad day suddenly felt less terrible. The flowers were there, a bright beacon in a world that had, for a moment, seemed dark.
