The air crackled with unspoken tension. Daniel, walking into the living room, saw his partner, Olivia, staring intently at the laptop screen. Her posture was rigid, her face pale. A manuscript was open, visible to anyone walking in. He approached her, his steps slow.

He saw his own name, repeated throughout the text. The story was about them, or, at least, a highly romanticized version of their life. He was the hero, cast in the most flattering light. He felt a wave of... reverence? He had never known her to have this talent.

He felt a sense of disorientation, as though he was no longer quite sure who was the author and who was the character. He wasn't sure how to feel.
