Gemotions

It was a beautiful, crisp autumn day. The air buzzed with the last of the summer insects. He didn’t know the neighbor’s name, but she was standing there, the sun catching her hair. She asked about a patch of land, somewhere to plant herbs.

He felt as though he’d been yanked from the mundane. His heart skipped a beat, and the world seemed to tilt on its axis. He fumbled with his hands.

He gestured wildly, as though trying to capture the shifting colors of the sky.

He experienced a curious mix of elation and uncertainty.
