Clara felt a sudden, unexpected flush across her face. Her hands instinctively flew to her mouth. Condos. It was almost too much to comprehend. She lived in a building that had seen the rise and fall of countless trends, a building that was now becoming something…valuable. She crossed the street, back to her apartment. The brick facade of the building, usually anonymous, now appeared impossibly grand and imposing.

She found herself, almost against her will, running her fingers over the cool brick. She felt like crying.
