The email shimmered on her phone screen. A notification from the alumni newsletter. *Featured Essay: A Journey of Self-Discovery*. Her stomach lurched. She scrolled down, heart hammering a frantic rhythm against her ribs. There it was. Her name. The title, slightly tweaked, but undeniably the essay she’d poured her soul into four years ago. A wave of heat washed over her, making her cheeks flush. She felt a sudden, inexplicable urge to hide under her desk.

It was strange, seeing it again, the words that had felt so monumental at the time, now staring back at her in crisp, professional font. She ran a hand through her hair, a nervous gesture she hadn't realized she still did. This was the same piece that had secured her spot at Stanford.
