He didn't believe it at first. Michael saw his name, his photograph, in the local library’s new acquisitions. "Michael's Measure," it was titled. He went to the book, his body heavy. He picked it up. He opened it.

The biography chronicled his life's work, his dedication, but the writing… it was like reading a stranger's perspective of his life. He felt an intense disquiet, a cold sweat breaking across his brow. He didn’t know how to feel. It was all there, the essence of his life. Yet it felt profoundly wrong.

He felt the sudden urge to run, to escape. But from what? He wasn't sure. The library suddenly felt claustrophobic.

He closed the book, and placed it back on the shelf. He turned to leave, and paused. He turned back. He picked up the book.
