Gemotions

The vibrant colors of the pawnshop blurred around her. The cacophony of voices and noises seemed to recede, leaving an echoing silence in her ears. Her grandmother’s ring, nestled amongst the other forgotten pieces of jewelry, was a cruel joke.

She swayed slightly, her hand instinctively reaching out to steady herself on the glass counter. The cold, smooth surface offered little comfort. A knot formed in her stomach.

She felt a sudden, almost desperate urge to run, to escape this unsettling reality. But her feet remained planted.
