The bus rumbled to a halt. Liam stepped off, phone in hand. He’d been exchanging witty messages with “SapphireSun” for weeks, sharing book recommendations and late-night thoughts. He was heading home from work when he saw her.

There she was. Waiting at the crosswalk, the same vibrant blue hair he'd seen in the profile photo, the same mischievous glint in her eyes. The same quirky backpack. He froze, the air suddenly thick and hard to breathe.

He quickened his pace, but his legs felt leaden. He couldn't quite process it. He'd never considered her being *here*. The proximity of it all felt too intense.
