The vibrant colors of the art gallery seemed muted. Alex watched his wife, Chloe, end another clandestine phone call, her face turned away. The sharp angles of the modern sculptures seemed to mirror the confusion in his chest.

He'd noticed a change in her lately, a distance. This, however, was concrete evidence. He felt a knot tighten in his stomach. He wasn’t sure how to proceed.

He picked up a gallery brochure, but the words swam before his eyes. He felt adrift, lost in the sea of faces around him. He took a deep breath. He should probably act normal.
