David, a junior programmer, checked his online portfolio. The article he wrote on machine learning was gone. In its place: the exact same article, signed by a senior developer, someone he had always admired. A wave of nausea washed over him.

He felt the blood drain from his face. His mouth went dry. He was certain he'd saved his article to the server correctly. He knew he'd followed all the protocol. How could this have happened? He started pacing his small apartment.

He felt a tightness in his chest, as though someone had wrapped a steel band around it. He was a nobody. He wanted to shout, but no sound came out. The senior developer, already a respected figure, now had *his* work to add to his list of achievements. He felt small. Insignificant. Invisible.
