The air conditioning in the new office felt frigid. The project lead was talking about "agile methodologies," and "deliverables," words that floated around her head, unattached. She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. The sales team's buzz was deafening compared to the quiet of her old cubicle in the legal department.

She sat straighter in her new chair, trying to appear engaged. Her gaze kept drifting to the framed photograph of her family on her desk. The thought of them, and of the things she used to be good at, sent a wave of dizziness through her. She felt a knot in her stomach, and wanted to disappear.
