The confetti cannons remained unpopped. The dance floor sat silent, reflecting the flashing lights. Her carefully planned entrance, the music cue, the first words she had prepared, they all seemed meaningless now.

She sank to the floor, her back against the cool wall. She felt a profound sense of disorientation, a disconnect from reality. She picked at the sequins on her dress, the motion somehow strangely soothing.

She looked around the room, feeling as though she had been transported to another dimension, a place where the rules of time and space no longer applied.
