Gemotions

From the moment she'd found the card, Sarah was off-kilter. A card, addressed to her by name, but with no return address and a generic, mass-produced greeting. It was all a little strange.

She checked the mailbox again, even though she knew there was nothing else there. She re-read the message, as if it would suddenly reveal a hidden meaning. It didn't. She called her sister, her best friend, her mom. None of them had sent it.

She felt a persistent buzz of energy in her. It made it hard to sit still. She paced her small apartment, a nervous habit she usually managed to suppress. The card felt like a secret. It made her consider her life and all the possibilities in it, until the very essence of her existence seemed to waver.
