The realtor had sworn there were no hidden features. Now, Maya stood before a door she didn't recognize, concealed behind a bookcase in the master bedroom. It was jarring, unsettling. This wasn't supposed to happen.

Her hand trembled as she reached for the tarnished brass knob. She almost didn't want to touch it. It was as if the house itself was playing a trick. Why would anyone hide a room? What secrets did it hold?

She pushed the door open, a slow, deliberate act. A wave of darkness rushed out to meet her. A sense of unease coiled in her stomach. “Okay,” she muttered to herself, her voice sounding small and fragile. “Here we go.”
