The embossed gold lettering seemed to leap off the card. "Twenty Year Reunion!" The words swam before Michael's eyes. He let out a soft sound, a cross between a groan and a laugh. Twenty years. How could it possibly be twenty years?

He leaned back in his chair, feeling a peculiar lightness in his head. The office, usually a place of familiarity, seemed to shift around him. He felt a detached observer of his own life. The paperwork on his desk blurred. He ran a hand over his face, feeling the rough stubble of his beard.

He got up and walked to the window, staring out at the cityscape. He felt a vague sense of dread, but also… curiosity? The thought of seeing them, seeing *her*... it was both terrifying and strangely alluring. He felt a prickle of sweat on his forehead.
