He stared at the package, a corrugated cardboard box that sat precariously on his doorstep. The label read "To: Bartholomew." He recognized the name. It was the name of the man who had lived here before. Bartholomew was a stranger.

He crouched down, examining the box. It was sealed with heavy-duty packing tape. He considered leaving it. Maybe the delivery service would realize their mistake. He was getting the sense that this would be no simple matter.

He brought it inside, and placed it on the dining table. He found a knife, and began to cut through the tape. He kept cutting. The box fell open. It was full of... nothing. Just shredded paper.
