The air in the gallery felt heavy, the scent of expensive perfume and pretentious art doing little to comfort Emily. She stared at the press release on her phone, which detailed the plagiarism accusations against artist, Gareth Blackwood. Blackwood was someone she had always looked up to and admired. She had always found inspiration in his art. Her world had just cracked.

She felt a sharp jolt. She clutched her chest. A wave of heat washed over her face. She closed her eyes.

She had spent years studying Blackwood's techniques, trying to understand his unique vision. Now, that vision felt stolen. She turned and abruptly left the gallery, the curated beauty of the space suddenly grotesque. She just needed to be alone. Her chest hurt. Everything felt hollow.
