"Is that…?" Lena whispered, her voice barely audible. Her brother, across from her at the bar, just raised an eyebrow, not understanding the question. On the jukebox, a raspy, out-of-tune rendition of "Midnight Bloom" was playing. It was a song she'd written during a particularly dark period of her life, a song she’d vowed to never revisit. A flush crept up her neck, and her heart began to hammer against her ribs. She couldn't breathe. She grabbed her brother's arm, her grip tight and desperate. "Turn it off, please."
