"So… this is happening," Mark muttered under his breath, staring at his reflection in the bathroom mirror. His tie felt constricting. He’d spent the last week agonizing over the speech, rewriting it countless times, each revision feeling less authentic than the last. He splashed cold water on his face, hoping to shock himself into a semblance of composure. The thought of his father beaming with pride and his mother holding back tears was both heartwarming and terrifying. He just didn't know what to say. He took a deep breath. It wasn't like he was going to be performing brain surgery.
