Gemotions

Her stomach lurched. The noise of the party was a symphony of unfamiliar sounds. She had to give this speech, but the task seemed to have shrunk her. Her shoulders slumped. Her heart pounded against her ribs. She’d tried to focus on happy memories, on the stories that painted her mother and father in the best light. But now, it was like those memories were floating out of her grasp. She tried to picture herself walking to the podium, but her feet felt heavy, as if anchored to the spot. It was like her body was rebelling.
