A cold dread washed over Maya as she saw the confirmation message. A text about needing "the usual ingredients" for dinner. Except, she hadn't texted her husband. The message had gone to her ex, Daniel. Her ex? They hadn't spoken in months, not since the acrimonious split. She felt a wave of dizziness.

Her fingers danced across the phone screen, trying to find a delete button, anything to un-send the message. She closed her eyes for a moment, wishing it was all a dream. She opened her eyes, and there it was, still, staring back at her. Her face went numb. She felt like she was standing in a wind tunnel, disoriented.
